Tuesday 26th May - walks **** – Near Symonds Yat – rain in the morning
then sunny with passing storm.
Our first night in our wonderful Great Barn surrounded by our family,
being really hot Mag and I woke early and decided to have a walk to the end
of the farm lane hoping to see the highland cattle, sadly they were in a
field quite a distance away but there was a lot of sheep with lambs. Then
back to our bedroom for a morning cuppa and wait the arrival of our
Grandson Arlo! We then had breakfast in the sun at the table outside with
lovely views of the surrounding rolling countyside, todays plan was a visit
from Mags brother Richard and his wife Lynda who we haven’t seen for
several years and they were bringing their twin Granddaughters, Isobel and
Hannah both 8 who we have never meet for lunch at one.Rob who know the area
well suggested we drive the short distance to Symonds Yat where there is a
short walk to a view point where you can see a large meander in the River
Wye far below which was stunning despite the 30 degree temperatures! The
company arrived at one, at first the girls were quiet and shy but that very
quickly disappeared and the four kids got on like a house on fire, lunch, a
self service buffet went well as did Maeva’s kids golf set! Mag had
bought the girls a Lego heart each which they made and they didn’t leave
until 5.30, a very pleasant afternoon! Then after tea we had bubble fun in
the garden until it was time for bed a great first day of our holiday with
a bike ride organized for tomorrow!
